EM U13s travelled to Benfleet with a 16 man squad for this away friendly. Benfleet are a developing side and had to borrow a few players from us to get a team together, but to their credit they fulfilled the fixture. The game itself was a one sided affair with Benfleet struggling to gain any ground against our organisation in the rucks and good work in the mauls to drive the ball forward. Our backs saw a lot of the ball and despite it being very cold and windy we passed the ball out to score some good tries. To their credit Benfleet did not give up and led by their second row they made some ground and played the game in good spirit.
The game was effectively over by half time with manor being 6 nil up, so we swapped some of our players giving Benfleet Paul, Johnny and Thady. We lost some of our structure in the second half but maintained the pressure to score two more tries. Benfleet managed to get a try from their big second row and Paul ran in a couple of tries at the finish. The score ended 8:3 to Eton Manor.
