U13 Cup - Burnham

The U13s put in a great performance to win our first cup game of the season against Burham. We tackled well and opened the score with a blistering run from Paul from his own half, however our handling let us down. This led to Burnham going ahead 2:1 courtesy of their big pack and useful number 10.

After 10 minutes Manor woke up, led by Thady who popped up everywhere on the pitch and assisted by some great ripping by Ameer and Archie and Alex in the mauls. This platform allowed Alfie to link up with the backs who took the ball at pace passing down the line to the wings where Harry M made some good yards.

The in the second half we brought on Ben who stepped in for the hardworking Henry at scrum half. Thomas M then came on at fly half, Thomas A and Daniel on the wings and Frank came into the front row. Our scrum got better and better as the game progressed , and this platform allowed our backs to set off for 4 (or 5) more tries scored by the Paul. Johnny added a couple of good tries to score from the half way line, and we eventually ran in 8 tries to 5 winners.

Before the game we asked the team to do 2 things; make your tackles and take the ball forward. They did both very well and played with some good team spirit. It was all capped off by the boys receiving their club ties looking very smart after the match, with a trouser less Archie winning the smart casual award.
