Yesterday's Fireworks display at Eton Manor RFC was preceded by another, with Eton Manor U17s playing their second Essex Youth Cup fixture against Mavericks RFC.
Eton Manor started the game with an early try, breaking out from their own half, combining backs and forwards in a fine move that saw Henry Horne score the first of is two tries. Mavericks came back hard and only spirited defence kept Eton Manor in the game. At 12-!2, with only minutes on the clock, it seemed that a Mavericks scrum under their own post would relieve Eton Manor pressure. The pressure finally told and Dan Davey pounced on a loose ball, to slide over and score the winning try.
These were two very evenly Matched sides, reflected in the final score, and Mavericks should be commended on their great spirit and good sportsmanship fin. A tough physical rugby game played in fine spirit.
