Update on the RFU Artificial Grass Pitch Programme

To all club members

I am conscious that people are eager to hear whether we have been successful in being one of the fifteen clubs chosen to be an RFU AGP pitch partner. All I can at say the moment is we are still firmly in the ball park and the club are working very hard to secure a pitch. We are still very much engaged with the RFU and are working closely with their programme partners to make sure we meet all of their demands.

Last week we took two significant steps forward. On Tuesday we were granted planning permission by the London Borough of Redbridge. Then, on Friday we received the final contract documents to review. I am pleased to say that the RFU have listened to our concerns and those of other clubs and the contracts look like they will be fully acceptable to us. We have a committee meeting planned for tomorrow night to go over the contracts and then, hopefully, if approved we will pass on our acceptance of the contract conditions to our solicitors. I then have a meeting pencilled in next week with the RFU to clear up any loose ends and cover off any outstanding issues.

Once we are in a position to sign contracts, we will probably have to wait until the RFU have received feedback from all of the other interested clubs. Once that happens we will soon find out one way or another if we have been selected for one of the fifteen pitches to be installed in June this year.

Rest assured we will keep on doing everything we can to make sure we are one of the fifteen.

I will let you all know as soon as the RFU confirm the chosen clubs.
